Interviews

Beginning in Wave 3, NDWS conducts semi-structured interviews with a subset of survey respondents, including community clinicians, and nursing home, assisted living, and home care staff and administrators.

The rigorous qualitative research design includes interview questions that span multiple domains, including career pathways and future plans, experiences delivering care, priorities and values related to dementia care, and perceived workforce strengths and challenges. This approach captures diverse perspectives while maintaining comparability within and across workforce groups.

The NDWS qualitative team processes interview data through a structured workflow combining automated text processing, advanced privacy protection, and supervised machine learning, making materials searchable, consistent, and accessible for a wide range of research teams and uses.

A de-identified dataset will be made available to researchers through a secure data environment to support analysis of how workforce factors influence dementia care outcomes.

The first wave of qualitative data is expected in 2027.
