Interview FAQs
NDWS is conducting interviews with previous survey participants to get additional details about the challenges and opportunities you face. Interviews are approximately 30 minutes long and will be conducted via Zoom or phone. See FAQs about the process below.
Who is conducting the interviews?
Interviews are being conducted by an experienced team of qualitative researchers at the University of California, San Francisco.
I have already completed a survey. Why am I being invited to do an interview?
Thank you again for completing the survey. We truly appreciate your time.
Interviews help us better understand your experiences caring for people living with dementia, including those just starting to experience memory loss. While the survey provides important information, the interview allows you to share more detailed insights about the challenges, strengths, and perspectives of the dementia care workforce.
This study is designed so that anonymous survey responses can be linked to anonymous interview responses. For this reason, we are only inviting individuals who have already completed the survey to participate in an interview.
What does interview participation involve?
If you choose to participate, you will:
- Complete a short online interest form.
- Schedule an interview at a time that works for you.
The interview will last approximately 30 minutes and take place by Zoom or phone. Within a month after you complete the interview, a gift card will be emailed to you as a thank you for your time.
What will the interview ask about?
The specific questions may vary depending on your role. We may ask about:
- Your career path and future plans
- Your experiences providing care
- Your priorities and values related to dementia care
- Strengths and challenges in the workforce
This approach captures diverse perspectives while maintaining comparability within and across workforce groups. There are no right or wrong answers—we are interested in your honest perspectives. You may choose to skip any question you do not wish to answer.
How will my information be used?
Your responses will be combined with those of other participants to create a research dataset.
- Your name and any identifying information will be removed.
- A unique study code (not your name) will be used to link your survey and interview responses.
- The data will be stored in a secure research system.
- Only approved researchers will have access to the anonymized dataset.
