Pilot Grants

NDWS conducts an annual, national competition for pilot research projects to accelerate use of survey data and linked data sources.

Visit the Pilot Grant Awardees page to see the recipients for Cycle 1 and Cycle 2. Look for the next call for applications in Spring 2026.

While specifics may vary year-to-year, grants are typically for 12-months projects (18 months if using linked data) and support direct costs up to approximately $100,000. Approximately six to eight pilot grants will be awarded per cycle.

Proposed projects should use survey data from at least one NDWS survey setting and advance at least one NIA AD+ADRD Research Implementation Milestone

Recipients will have access to additional support from NDWS, including biostatistical consultation, to promote successful completion and dissemination.
